On the retirement of three stellar lights at the US Senate

So lets bid a Senatorial farewell,

To Helms, Thurmond, and Gramm
Soon they'll be running in Hell
Still serving the interests that paid them well

Helms you'll recall: created a racist, jingoist pall
And reigned at Foreign Relations, y'all
Further debased this ill led nation
May he find a home with Satan

Thurmond, who changed his politic
From White Supremacist to hypocrite
Who has lived far beyond his time
May his legacy rest, soon, in quick lime

Gramm: Texas finest son
Whose wallets fattened by Enron
Who fought civil rights and progress
And tainted what he touched, for largesse

The Senates now a better place
But remains the seat of our disgrace
A place peopled by the venal, and lame
The jackal and vulture, and there remains
So much more of the same
