Bender
states stance
I
assure you Matthew Bensons reporting that I would remain outspoken against
racism, sexism, class warfare, PPD and other destructive products of
political correctness is an affirmative. I will continue to reach out to the
few dozen mostly anonymous, PC minority who evidently not only feel offended,
but who also vindictively disagree with my unwavering support for civil
rights, civility and character. Despite continuing personal attacks, I will
remain firm in my beliefs and high standards of conduct as the Larimer County
citizen majority voted for on Nov. 7.
I applaud
Matthew Benson for revising his initial story about Commissioner Glenn Gibson's
and my agenda to re-establish economic, environmental and natural resource
stewardship to all government lands of Larimer County. The inaccuracy of his
news report concerning the sale of open lands and, resource management
priorities made all involved, especially the misinformed editorial board and.
citizen reactionaries, look foolish.
This all-too-often
repeated media problem and subsequent kneejerk reactions only confirm an
important point I made in previous letters to the editor. In today’s PC
culture, citizens need to access multiple information sources to get all sides
of the story before reacting personally, socially and politically.
I accept
responsibility for the miscommunication because I failed to have my statements
repeated for clarification as it was to be reported. I believe that reporting
accuracy will improve as a better understanding and working relationship with
the media is developed.
Torn Bender,
Larimer County Commissioner,
District 2,
Bellvue
