As the local expression of a global movement, the Poudre Valley Green Party stands for environmental sanity, community-based economic, social justice and grassroots democracy. Passing on a healthy planet to future generations is more important than the next quarterly balance sheet or election cycle.

Our national energy policy emphasizes drilling and burning fossil fuels, which is polluting our air and water, changing the global climate, and funding Middle Eastern kings and dictators. WE support clean, renewable, decentralized wind and solar power, demand reduction, and energy efficiency. We need to end our over-reliance on automobiles through development and transit policies that promote trains, buses, bicycles and walking. That is the real path to national security and energy independence.

We support a foreign policy based on  cooperation, support for global institutions like the United Nations, and respect for international law. An open-ended “War on Terrorism” that fails to acknowledge that the U.S. is more often the perpetrator of terror rather than the victim is a formula for increasing global violence and instability.

Corporate control of our media and electoral system (including both major parties) is choking off real debate and strangling our democracy.

We support campaign finance reform, electoral alternatives like Instant Runoff Voting and Proportional Representation, and returning the public airwaves to public control.

The abolition of slavery, women's right to vote, the establishment of a minimum wage, and regulation of child labor were all incorporated into major party platforms and enacted only after they were raised and promoted by third parties.
