County Commissioner Bender Scandalous

In a most offensive manner, Larimer County

Commissioner Tom Bender made public [in a soapbox

published in the November ?? edition of the Fort

Collins Coloradoan] his feelings about people who have

chosen to oppose the current American agenda, with a

more politically correct stance.  I am appalled that

any public official would choose to call activists

"terrorists," when in fact they have shown their

appreciation for our liberties by speaking out, which

Bender states he fought for in Vietnam.

Politically correct (PC) means right. That is, most

people believe that the theories are right. Some may

believe that the concepts are not all obtainable in

our current political atmosphere, but we are working

to show that all persons and our planet must be

considered in each agenda item.

Many Americans are afraid and puzzled that their

rights are at risk from brutish thugs who have a

seemingly irrational agenda. Traditional reaction to a

direct attack is to defend oneself by whatever means

are available. This does not mean that a violent

reaction is in our best interests. 

Bender’s use of his position to persuade us he knows

what he's talking about is scandalous! Refusing to

name the people he claims are "American Taliban,"

endangers all progressive activists.  Naming them

would be libelous as his allegations are unfounded.

These people don't want more violence.  This smacks of

the tyranny placed on many innocent citizens by

paranoia throughout history! His views are more

uncompromising than the folks he vilifies, who appear

to only have asked that the facts be more completely

reviewed before violent action was taken.  That Bender

called himself a moderate in past elections sickens

me!
